The Technology

Fixel is a solution that enables mobile users to make and receive phone calls from their cellular devices directly through the landline, using Bluetooth connectivity.

Accessing the mobile phone contact list as well as benefiting from advantageous landline tariffs, are the preferred requirements of  mobile users while in the vicinity of a landline.

Equipped with VTU Fixel technology, cellular devices are therefore turned into DECT-type handsets (Cordless phones), finally enabling mobile users to make the most of their cellular handsets capabilities while staying indoors.

fiXel is designed to meet the requirements of the FMCA (Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance) organization for using mobile phone as Cordless Phone. FMCA objective is to offer the users a mobile device that acts as a normal cellular phone when outdoors and as a cordless fixed-line phone when indoors, using Bluetooth wireless technology.

Our solution also enables cell phones owners to use their mobile devices more safely, as calls generated over Bluetooth only emit a fraction of the radiations emitted during in-doors GSM calls.

The Market

With Fixel a new Economy of scale is now within reach, basically returning GSM revenues generated indoors to Landline Operators.

Traditionally, it is accepted that VoIP calls over wifi will increase within the next few years. Still, penetration of handsets with wifi support is very low and expected to reach only 20% of the Smartphone market at 2011.

Our solution enables Mobile to Fixed line convergence to become a reality right now, making use of already existing infrastructures and of Bluetooth, a technology already deployed in almost all mobile handsets.

With VTU technology, Instant messaging, SMSs, voice calls can now be generated from home, safely, cheaply and easily.
